Choreography
Bakary Fall creates choreography that is rooted in the cultural richness of West African dance while remaining open to contemporary innovation and creative exploration. His work reflects a dynamic fusion of traditional and contemporary West African movement, Capoeira, and urban dance forms, shaped by years of performance, teaching, and cultural research across Senegal, the United States, and beyond.
With a choreographic voice grounded in both heritage and experimentation, Bakary develops works that honor ancestral traditions while speaking to the present moment. His movement language is deeply expressive, rhythmically charged, and centered on storytelling, offering audiences a powerful experience of culture, artistry, and human connection.
Bakary’s choreography has been featured in documentaries, music videos, and live performances, and his artistic leadership continues through his role as Artistic Director of the Kofago Dance Ensemble. His creative work is informed by a broad international career and a long-standing commitment to the preservation and evolution of African diasporic dance.
Whether creating for the stage, educational institutions, festivals, or collaborative projects, Bakary approaches choreography as both an artistic practice and a cultural offering. Each work is crafted with intention, drawing from movement traditions that carry history, spirit, and community into performance.
