About Bakary Fall

Bakary Fall is a Senegalese dance artist, choreographer, and educator from Dakar whose work reflects a deep connection to traditional and contemporary West African dance, Capoeira, and urban movement practices. As the Artistic Director of the Kofago Dance Ensemble, he brings a powerful creative vision rooted in cultural knowledge, artistic excellence, and a lifelong commitment to movement as both expression and preservation.

Bakary began his artistic journey at the Third World Festival of Black Arts in Dakar and further developed his craft through study with acclaimed dancer Germaine Acogny. Over the years, his dancing and choreography have been featured in documentaries and music videos, including projects with Grammy Award-winning artists. He is also the founder of the annual Yoon ak Yeen festival in Dakar, a platform recognized for bringing artists together through the fusion of traditional and contemporary dance, and the founder of Sunu Percu Dance in Senegal.

Since arriving in the United States in 2018, Bakary has continued to expand his international impact through performance, teaching, and cultural exchange. He has appeared in major festivals and performances in New York and beyond, while also teaching classes and workshops for institutions and organizations such as Alvin Ailey Extension, Peridance, CUMBE, Queensborough Community College, Lehman College, and New York City public and charter schools. His teaching reaches students of all ages and reflects his belief that dance is a powerful tool for connection, discipline, identity, and community.

Through every performance, class, and choreographic work, Bakary Fall continues to honor the richness of African diasporic culture while inspiring the next generation of artists around the world.
